Kenneth M. Bowen, 78, of Slate Hill, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Ken was born December 18, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Cecil and Josephine (Bradbury) Bowen. Ken retired from the NYPD, Brooklyn South Homicide Squad as a Detective Sergeant. He was an original member of the Tactical Patrol Force "whose like will never be seen again". He proudly served as fire police Captain for the Slate Hill Fire Company, Slate Hill, NY. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of ORMC and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for their care and concern. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Bowen and wife Deborah of Goshen, Edward Bowen and wife Patrice of Goshen; daughter, Maureen Bowen of Goshen; brothers, Francis Bowen and Vincent Bowen and wife Tricia; 3 grandchildren, Erin Lynch and husband Thom, Kevin Bowen and Megan Bowen; great grandson, Liam Lynch and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Bowen; sister, Viola Fraad and brother, John Bowen. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9 from 2 to 4 PM & 7 to 9 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow in Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ken's name to the Slate Hill Fire Company, P.O. Box 3, Slate Hill, NY 10973.
