John R. Conklin, 63, of Florida, NY, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center-Arden Hill Campus, Goshen, NY.
John was born November 20, 1946 in Goshen, NY, the son of Medford Conklin and Anne Clune Conklin.
John retired as Sergeant for the Village of Goshen Police Dept. He started his law enforcement career with the Monroe Police Department in 1968 and transferred to the Village of Goshen Police in 1970. He retired in 1995. Most recently he served as a Court Officer for the Village of Goshen Justice Court. A U.S. Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the Marine Corp League, Middletown, NY. He was the Goshen High School Varsity Coach for Cross Country from 1984 to 2007.
He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Conklin at home; son, David J. Conklin and significant other Theresa of Goshen; daughter, Pamela A. Gray and husband George of Goshen; brother, Medford Conklin and wife Martha of Sierra Vista, AZ; aunt, Grace Malley; mother-in-law, Mildred Pawliczak of Florida, NY; his 2 grandchildren, Emily Conklin and Alex Gray; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, August 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen,, NY.
Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main Street, Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940.
