Obituary of Barbara A. Bloomfield

Barbara Callahan Bloomfield, of Goshen, NY passed away peacefully Monday, February 22, 2016. She was born in Martinsburg, WV, daughter of the late Robert Miles Gearhart and Brookie Maynard. Barbara is survived by her mother, Brookie Maynard; her husband, Douglas K. Bloomfield, at home; her daughter, Amanda Bloomfield Banks and her husband, Kent Miller; grandchildren, Virginia, Max, Preston, and Hope; sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Paul Hallenbeck; brother, Clarence Callahan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Derek and Marcella Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara worked at Orange-Ulster BOCES, in Goshen, NY as a speech-language pathologist and served children with autism spectrum disorder. Her greatest passion was inspiring educators and families to think and act creatively in ways to greatly benefit these students, opening up a world of opportunity for them. Barbara planted many seeds of hope and happiness in countless teachers, therapists, mothers, and fathers across the globe, and lives on in the smiles and hearts of these individuals and the children they assist. She started her own company IconTalk, LLC in an effort to provide school systems and families with innovative communication tools to effectively connect with students. Barbara was a precious gift to all who knew her and worked with her, and to all the children who loved her immensely. A memorial visitation will be Saturday, February 27 from 2 to 6 P.M. at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. Burial will be at a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's name to Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate, P.O. Box 658, Monroe, NY 10949, or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
