Obituary of Virginia Rose Weeden

Virginia Rose Weeden Goshen, New York Virginia Rose Weeden, age 91, of Goshen, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Valley View Center for Nursing Care in Goshen. The daughter of the late Bruno Zielinski and the late Caroline (Plock) Zielinski, Virginia was born on March 10, 1924 in the old Goshen Hospital on Greenwich Avenue. She married her late husband Wardell Weeden on October 4, 1941 and together they operated the old Goshen Diner on Main Street. She later retired from employment with Orange County. One of Virginia's favorite things to do was to start her day with a cup of coffee at Elsie's Restaurant in Goshen. Virginia is survived by her daughter-in-law Judith Weeden of Goshen; grandchildren Melissa Mahoney and husband John of Goshen and Brett Weeden and wife Tina of Campbell Hall; great grandchildren Molly and Mason Mahoney and Daniel and Evan Weeden. She is further survived by her brothers Bruno Zielinski and wife Dottie of Fort Myers, FL and Joseph Zielinski and wife Fran of Aiken, SC as well as many nieces and nephews. Virginia is predeceased by her husband Wardell N Weeden Sr, and her son Wardell N "Spade" Weeden Jr who fought a courageous battle with cancer prior to his death in 2005. She is also predeceased by her sister Lillian Heinzelman and brother James Zielinski. Visitation hours will be Monday January 11, 2016 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Donovan Funeral Home 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A prayer service will be held at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial to immediately follow at St John's Cemetery in Goshen.
