Goshen, NY
Bernard Gentile, of Goshen left us on June 9, 2008 to soar in the heavens. He was 81 years old.
Born in Brooklyn to Giuseppe and Angelina Gentile, he graduated from Goshen High School. He interrupted his high school education to serve his country in World War II with the Armys 44th Tank Battalion. He was married to Frances Marchesano who died in 2001. He was a retiree from Ford Motor Company in Mahwah after 28 years and from Orange County Home and Infirmary after 15 years. An avid aviation enthusiast he enjoyed flying his planes including his Midget Mustang that he built. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Goshen Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his children, LouAnn Rysinger and husband Ken of Goshen, Ben Gentile Jr. of Goshen, Linda Rizzo of Virginia, and sister, Betty Corda of Goshen. Grandchildren: Michael Rysinger, Michele Carpino, Megan Rysinger, Lauren Wynia, Joseph Rizzo, Joseph Gentile and Michael Gentile. Greatgrandchildren: Lyndsey Rysinger and Michael Carpino. Nieces and nephews and many who just called him Uncle Ben
He was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Gentile and sisters, Josephine Capiello, Connie DeVito and Linda Cerullo.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for leading them through such a trying time. A special thanks to his nurses Joanne, Marty and Theresa.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Murray Ave. Goshen.
Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.
