Obituary of Joyce Claire Memmelaar

Boise, Idaho - Joyce Claire Memmelaar "Joy" of Boise, Idaho, formerly of Chester, New York died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 47 years old. The daughter of the late Jack and Betty Lou Memmelaar, she was born on December 12, 1959 in Goshen, New York. Joy is survived by her brother Jack Memmelaar and his wife Jen, her nephew Jason John Memmelaar, and her niece Stephanie Louise Beams and her husband Jim; many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and a GREAT group of very close friends that became her family, as her immediate family was many miles away. Joy was an avid Softball player and coach. As stated by her in a recent interview, "Softball is my life." She was a fierce competitor and a gifted athlete. She touched many young lives as a teacher and coach. Joy was chosen twice as the Southern Idaho Conference Valley Division - High School "Softball Coach of the Year." She was often heard saying that "heart" was more important talent. A service will be held on Saturday, November 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, Idaho. In New York, visitation will be held on Monday, November 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, N.Y. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 13th at 10:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Chester, with Pastor Karen Green officiating. Burial will follow at the Chester Cemetery.
