Obituary of J. Robert Donovan

Dr. J. Robert Donovan of Goshen, NY, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA after a short illness. The son of the late Joseph C. Donovan and Margaret Curtin, he was born in Goshen, NY on Oct. 10, 1924.
Dr. Donovan was a lifelong resident of Goshen. He attended Goshen High School, Sienna College and received his Surgical Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. He practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, serving the Orange County Community for nearly four decades until his retirement. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was a member of St. Johns R.C. Church in Goshen.
Dr. Donovan is survived by three children, J. Robert Donovan Jr. and his wife Teri of Montgomery, NY; Colonel Michael Donovan and his wife Anne of Montclair, VA; and Karen Donovan-Bean and her husband Steve of Shrewsbury, MA; four siblings, Joseph Donovan of Goshen, NY; Marilee Dardenne of Mahwah, NJ; John Donovan of Charlotte, NC; Suzanne Donovan of Stony Point, NY; eight grandchildren, Sean and Christopher Donovan of Montgomery, NY; Andrew, Timothy and John Donovan of Montclair, VA; and Katie Ryan and Erin Bean of Shrewsbury, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Charlotte and sister Carol Regal.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen, NY.
Internment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Goshen.
