Howard John Nelson, age 52, of Goshen, died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Westchester County Medical Center, Mt. Pleasant, NY.
Howard was born March 29, 1955 in Suffern, NY the son of Donnan and Marion (White) Nelson. He was married to Patricia M. Kitson Nelson.
He was employed by UPS in Chester as a Feeder Driver. Howard was a volunteer fireman for the Minisink Hook and Ladder, Goshen, NY, a past officer of the Goshen Fire District, baseball coach for the Goshen Little League, former member of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department, member and shop steward for the Teamsters Local 177 Hillside, NJ, assistant Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts Troop 63 of Goshen, NY.
Family Statement Howard had the kindest, most gentle heart any man could possess. He loved his wife and children with all his heart. To be in service for others was what Howard lived for and nothing made him happier. Howard was a great athlete who loved baseball and coaching Luke and his friends; he was a great outdoors man and his daughter Trisha shared many an afternoon fishing with her Dad. Trisha was Howards Honey Pie and Luke was his Lukeman and his wife was his cute little darling. You have no idea how much you were loved Howard and well be missing you until were together again.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia M. Nelson at home; mother, Marion Nelson of Kingston, NY; son, Luke D. Nelson at home; 4 daughters, Trisha Mary Nelson at home, Tara Nelson of PA, Selina Nelson of Chester, NY and Heather Nelson of Chester, NY; sister, MaryBeth Kirby and husband Bob of Summitville, NY; father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Kitson of Chester, NY; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Andryshak and husband Richard of Goshen, Ann Hennig and husband Russ of Pine Bush, NY; brothers-in-law, John Kitson and wife Nora of New York, NY, Jim Kitson and wife Diane of Middletown, NY; 2 granddaughters, Angelina and Damaris; and several nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by his father Donnan Nelson
Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, 2007 from 7-9 pm and Monday, June 4, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 4, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Grace Community Baptist Church, Rt 94 in Washingtonville with Pastor Teryl Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Hill Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund is to be set up for Luke and Trisha Nelson, information for the fund will be available during visitation.
