Obituary of William Strong

WILLIAM HENRY STRONG September 5, 1924 - May 23, 2015 Goshen, NY William (Bill) Strong, 90, of Goshen passed away with his family by his side on May 23, 2015 at the Valley View Center for Nursing Care after a long illness. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Katharine Smith Strong. Bill was born in Goshen and was the sixth generation to live on Oak Ridge Farm, the family homestead. He operated the dairy farm for several decades before becoming a plumber and then a driver for Occupations, Inc. Bill was a former Trustee and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen and a member for over 70 years. He was also a founding member of Goshen Area Resources Association and belonged to Orange Environment. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean Soons Strong; his two daughters, Katharine Jorgensen and her husband, Dennis, and Ann Blake; three grandchildren, Jason Blake and his wife Jennifer, Ashley Nelms and her husband, Chris, and Jessica Telgheder; one great-grandchild, Grace Blake; and a half-sister, Mary McLean of St. Petersburg, FL. He was predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie Telgheder Williamson. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful caregivers at Valley View. There will be a graveside service for immediate family only in accordance with Bill's wishes. Arrangements are with Donovan Funeral Home, Goshen. No more suffering, Dad. Rest in peace. No visitation.
