Obituary of Catherine E. Brescia

Catherine "Chickie" Elizabeth Brescia, of Goshen, N.Y. entered into rest on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at the age of 82. The daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rose Dell' Arena. She was born on Nov. 7, 1932 in New York, NY. She grew up and attended Transfiguration School in the Chinatown section of New York City where she developed her lifelong love for Chinese cuisine. She graduated from Cathedral High School in New York, NY. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be deeply missed. During the prime of her life as a devoted homemaker, she developed her extraordinary culinary skills. Her traditional Sunday afternoon and holiday Italian style meals were always eagerly anticipated and enjoyed by all family members. Chickie loved playing bingo, card games, Mah Jong and spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of St. John's Church in Goshen, NY and actively participated as a guardian of the Eucharist at St. Joseph's Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Middletown, NY for many years. Survivors include sons Michael Brescia and wife Mary of New Hampton, N.Y.; Anthony Brescia and wife Carol of Goshen, N.Y.; four grandchildren; Jennifer, Anthony, Cynthia and Christopher; niece Mary and nephews, Ralph and Andre. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Brescia. Visitation will be Thursday, April 30 from 2 to 4 PM & 7 to 9 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Washingtonville.
