Bernard A. Walsh, 82, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Goshen, NY passed away on Monday, February 15, 2009 at Palm Garden Nursing Home, Port St. Lucie, FL.
Bernard was born June 27, 1926 in Goshen, NY to Margaret (Kelly) and John James Walsh. He graduated Goshen High School and served his Country in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, during World War II and participated in the historic "Battle of the Bulge." Bernard was a "Life Member" and also served as "Commander" of the American Legion Post 377 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1708 in Goshen, he received an award from Governor Rockefeller for 50 years of Service to the American Legion.
He was employed by Department of Public Works of Orange County in Goshen, NY.
Bernard is survived by his nephews and nieces, Arthur W. Walsh of Westport, NY; Margaret H. Becker, Anna L. Post Joy C. Walsh, John James Walsh, Jr., and Edward H. Walsh, all of Middletown. He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Marie W. Chalmers, John James Walsh, Alice Walsh and William Kelly Walsh.
Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2009 from 12:00 to 12:30 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A Graveside Service and burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
