Steve carries away with him one of the sparks that fueled Orange County RACES and kept us in good stead with our counterparts in the Emergency Management Office. He also carries away a dream I shared with him as a fellow engineer that we need to constantly look for ways to make life and our country better through technology, compassion, and service to the community.

I knew Steve when we were in college, all having partners for our future. I remember parties in school, and after Den & I were married, everyone would come to Liverpool, NY for the weekend. They were carefree times, and the memories of Steve & Marty together will always be in my heart. God bless you Marty & Jane and family. Keep him alive by talking about him.

Dear Martha, My heart goes out to you with empathy and love and I pray that as time goes by all the warm and treasured memories of times shared with Steven will fill your heart and help to ease your sorrow. Life has a very deceptive way of flowing past us. One day it is a flower, the next a falling leaf. One day it is a baby’s cry, the next a wrinkled face. Each of us travels on a journey. Sometimes the road is long, sometimes it is unfairly short. Fortunately, no matter how long or short, no matter how difficult, all roads lead to home. I am not sure what home is like. We can only imagine that it is far better than our mortal minds can understand. Steven made it home a little faster than we would have liked. But now, he will never have to leave home again. Martha… I know there is a light that cuts through death’s dark shadow. Wishing these words will bring the warmth of hugs, the comfort of memories and the promise of peace. My deepest condolences on Steve's passing. I worked with him on the SUNY New Paltz advisory board for many years, and he was a volunteer supporting my Hudson Valley Lego League program (Steve had judged several student competitions for us in the past, and would have helped at our local championship event at the end of this month). I'll always remember him as a tireless advocate for students interested in technology, and as a good friend that we could always count on. He will be deeply missed, but we will continue to honor his memory through the programs that he helped support.

I am very sorry to hear of your recent loss-Steve was wonderful to my dad when my dad was so very ill - Steve came and spent time with my dad on numerous occasions-for that I will be eternally grateful as it helped my father get thru a very difficult time.
