James J. Weinsheimer "Uncle James", 75, of Newburgh died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in his niece's home at Campbell Hall, NY.
James was born December 8, 1937 in the Bronx, the son of the late Ferdinand and the late Mary Hannah O'Donnell Weinsheimer.
James retired from Local #7 BAC, New York, NY as a Laborer/Tile Worker. He was a Union Man and walked in many Labor Day Parades. James worked on many buildings laying tiles in New York City and his last job at the Palisades Mall. James was our Gentle Giant and loved his family and their animals. He loved holiday gatherings and celebrations. He called family and friends for their birthdays and special events, his favorite places to eat were the Alexis Diner in Newburgh and the Pines in the Bronx; favorite pastimes were watching Westerns and old movies, and no one could beat him at cards.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Al Stipak; nieces and nephews, Karen Bello, Robert and Barbara Stipak, Nancy Carey, Linda and Philly Hoeffner, Sue and Joe Candela; also survived by cousins, Eileen Snyder, Peggy Ryan and Michael Melville; 17 great nieces and nephews; 11 great grand nieces and nephews and growing.
He was predeceased by his sisters who referred to him as "Brother" Joan Stipak, Barbara Riccardi and Marie Weinsheimer.
The family would like to thank Dr. Castro and her staff, Hospice and the staff of Alexis Diner who showed great respect for "Uncle James"
Visitation will be Monday, November 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 12 at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 180 South Street, Newburgh, NY.
Burial will be in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY on Tuesday, November 12 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' name to St. Mary's Church, 180 South Street, Newburgh, NY 12550.
