Obituary of Sarah Simmons

Sarah (nee Conneely) Simmons Chester, New York Sarah (nee Conneely) Simmons of Chester passed away suddenly in the arms of her husband on Monday, September 16, 2013 at age 83. Born on Inis Oirr, Aran Isles, County Galway, Ireland on February 27, 1930 to Catherine and Michael Conneely. Sarah emigrated to this country and arrived in New York on July 4, 1949. She met and dated Thomas D. Simmons and they married on June 6, 1953 and shared that mutual love for 60 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and a former cafeteria employee at the Chester Elementary School for many years. One of her greatest joys was when she received her citizenship and became an American Citizen as she had a great love for this country. A loving wife to Thomas and a wonderful and caring mother to her children, Kathleen Cosco and her husband Joseph of Norfolk, Va, Patricia Price and her husband Joseph of Mill Rift, PA, Paul and his wife Mary of Green Bay, WI and Kenan and his wife Denise of Carlsbad, CA. As well as to her nine grandchildren, Marisa Taylor, Sean, Brendan and Clare Price, Ryan and Conor Simmons, Aidan, Cooper and Liam Simmons and the newborn great grandchild Henry Taylor. Her sister, Margaret Burke and her husband Richard of Ashland, VA, survive her. She was predeceased by our son, Kevin Joseph and her sister Mary Burke and brothers, John, Kevin and Edward Conneely. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, September 21 at St. Columba R. C. Church, 27 High St, Chester, NY. Following Mass her remains will be cremated and interment to follow at St. Columba Cemetery at the convenience of the Family.
