Great child hood memories growing up in the village with Donna and the Berretta’s living just across the street from us. Lemonade stands at the end of driveways, Halloween around Sunset Terr, cold mornings at the bus stop, hide and seek. Even though we separate from childhood with age, the memories stay with us. Dear Big Sister,
Hugging you and saying we loved each other the last time I saw you was the greatest gift God has ever given me. Our times spent listening and laughing, and crying and fighting on the phone will be missed. How I loved when you would go shopping and your picture and cell number would come up on my phone. We would talk and talk and laugh as you went from your favorite store to favorite store talking with me. I still have the most wonderful voice on my phone that you left for me last November. You are my best friend, and the most caring, selfless person I have ever met. Memories of sitting out on the deck, looking at the stars, talking on the phone, visiting you and helping you with the animals, our golf cart drives around the property. Memories of our talks, and sharing and hugs when Pop passed. Receiving that beautiful book you made for him when he passed. Sitting by your jewelry case and going through all your jewelry, piece by piece and your memories connected to each one. The day you gave me your butterfly necklace which I will wear and treasure and greet you with when I see you again. All your wonderful gifts that surround my apartment, all my dreamsicle angels, my lighthouse, my angels, and the last two gifts you ever presented to me, a dreamsicle angel and a necklace from the jersey shore. I will treasure our last communications on facebook. Memories of us as children flood my memory, and I am glad they have come back to me. You are now an Angel at the Right Hand of God, and the stars we would stare up at are now brighter and more immense because your soul flies freely now. I will never forget our meeting in the bathroom in high school, and although we would separate for a time after that, that day bonded us as sister should be bonded. You are the most beautiful person I have ever known. I love you Big Sister, I love you Donna. I will be seeing you very soon. Give Pop a big hug and kiss for me. Say hello to all your childhood animals, and go take your little walnut shell and baby and go on an adventure with them in the lilac tree. You are a Great Angel now.

My memories of Donna span over 26 years. I could not have had a more caring and loving sister-in-law. She had a great love of nature and animals. In my mind I can see her walking and next to her are all her animal friends--Lulu the vietnamese pot belly big, her rabbits, her ducks and Swinging Leg the three legged deer. And then there was the canadian geese she raised and set free along with the skunk she also raised until he too was set free. My Steve, her brother, will miss the long telephone calls they had almost everyday. May she rest in peace. She will be truly missed.
