Obituary of Robert V. Riso

Robert V. Riso Goshen, New York Robert "Pop" V. Riso, a retired Director of Transportation for the Tuxedo School District and a longtime area resident passed away peacefully at home after a year long battle with cancer; a battle he fought with courage, dignity and humor. He was 86 years old. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife Charita Joan. Robert was a World War II Navy Veteran and would often joke of how he protected the shores of Maine from invasion. He was a life long New York Yankees fan who had the pleasure of attending Don Larsen's Perfect Game 5 of the 1956 World Series. Robert is survived by his three children. His two daughters Alison of Warwick, Kristine Betro and her husband Joseph of Goshen and his son Robert and his wife Kim of Winnabow, NC. His beloved grandchildren Joseph, Francis and Jordan Betro as well as Connor, Kelsey and Griffin Riso. Robert is also survived by his Sister Grace Garrity and her husband John of Freehold, NJ and several nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored. Visitation will be Friday, March 15th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Donovan Funeral Home in Goshen, NY. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16th at St. Columba Church in Chester, NY at 10am. Internment to follow at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Imbarrato for not only his medical guidance but his spiritual guidance as well. The Oncology Nurses at Orange Regional Medical Center 2 North for the kindness and friendship they showed our father. We are forever grateful.
