The next morning, I went to Shannon's high sochol and first did a presentation about my books and the history behind them. I had been told that many of the students in the group were not particularly fond of books but I found them to be an extraordinarily attentive audience. I was glad that I had my chattervox personal audio system because this presentation was in one section of a very large open concept library and the group of students was fairly large. Everyone could hear me though, and I didn't have to scream. After that presentation I did a writing workshop with one of Shannon's English classes plus her Young Writers Group. The kids were fantastic! So creative! There is nothing more energizing for me than to be in a roomful of creative people who are actively thinking and writing. After we brainstormed our characters and chose a setting, I gave everyone ten minutes to write a paragraph. Some students wrote a couple of pages! I was really impressed with the quality of what these kids wrote! Fabulous stuff. Shannon is doing a great job!In the afternoon, I went to the public sochol where Emily and Laura teach and presented to the grade 7 8 students. It was a fairly big group and was in the gym with very bad acoustics, so again I was glad that I had my chattervox. I asked how many kids hated reading and books and half of the kids put up their hands. I would never have guessed it by their enthusiasm though. These kids asked great questions and listened attentively and when I gave them their choice between hearing my excerpts (vomit, beating up, or abduction) there was a chanting contest between beating up and vomit. I read vomit first and then beating up and their response was every author's dream. They clapped enthusiastically and wanted more more more! After that presentation was over, I skedaddled (it was 3 already) because I wanted to get out of town before all the sochol buses started rolling through. All my way home, I listened to a book on CD but listened to the weather reports from time to time. I missed the big snow storm by just a little bit and I got home at 7pm.

I got to know and love Donna through our Women's Golf league at Scenic Farms.I enjoyed her sense of humor and it was great golfing with her. We shared a few meals at the Harvest restaurant after golfing. She was a lot of fun and I will miss her smile and her positive energy. Much love and grace to her partner and her family and friends.

Dearest Aunt Donna, words can not express my thoughts and my feelings knowing that you have left us for a better place. I will always remember the great times that we had whenever we were together nor will I forget how you were comforting me when we spoke last week during your final days. Your impact on my life and the lives that you touched is immeasurable. I can only hope that my daughter as well as all your nieces grow up to be like you with the desire to succeed and to fight for whatever they believe in.

Oh Dear Donna - when we met this last Sept. I did not think I would be writing in this Biography. I know now that the small group gathering was certainly not long enough and I too wish that we could have spent more time talking.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you & whispered "come with me". With tearful eyes, we watched and saw you pass away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the BEST.
You are and will always be dearly missed.

I was so sad to hear of Donna's passing. I want to express my deepest sympathies to her family and friends. We met our freshman year at Indiana State University in 1975. She was a good hearted woman, always with a smile on her face and mischief in her eyes and I learned many an italian phrase from her (most of which can't be printed). There were so many good memories of that time. We managed to stay in touch over these many years and for that I'm truly grateful. I will miss her, but I know she is in a better place under God's care now. Rest in peace my old friend.

Donna is one of the nicest and dearest person we know. There couldn't be a nicer and more giving neighbor. We were fortunate to have moved next to the two sweetest ladies around, Kathy and Donna.
We will miss our dear neighbor/friend Donna and may she rest in peace.

Donna - words cannot even begin to express my sorrow. But, though i am sad, i know that what is important is not that you died, but that you lived. I cherish the memories of times we spent. And i know there is one more angel in Heaven today!

Although my mind is now corrupted with gambling, I am grateful for all the great times we had together. I was so lucky to have such a GREAT aunt in my life. You will never be forgotten, you will always in our hearts and thoughts. You were so strong even to the end which is so inspiring to those around you. I will always love you and never forget all the great times we had together; from playing basketball to our hot-dog joke to taking me to my first casino. I miss you dearly and am happy you found peace. I love you Aunt Donna.

Donna was a sweet loving person always there for her family. She was "Super-Aunt" to my children and protectively watched over them in rough times and made them laugh in good times. Her spirit and energy was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed. Now she can play with her beloved Buddy and hug all her loved ones that have gone before her. God Bless You Donna and thanks for all that you gave.
