Gerard J. "Jerry" Fritz Glen Spey, NY, formally of Monroe, NY Gerard J. "Jerry" Fritz, 80, of Glen Spey, NY, formally of Monroe, NY died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Castle Point VA Hospital, Wappinger Falls, NY. Born January 19, 1931 in the Bronx, NY, the son of Otto and Mary (O'Neil) Fritz. Jerry was an appliance Repairman for General Electric, Newburgh, NY. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean war with E25 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, he earned 3 battle stars, A life member of the American Legion Post 488-Monroe, NY, life member of the 40 and 8, life member of the VFW in Harriman, NY, member of the Naval Ship - Port Jervis, member of IBEW and member of the Hudson Valley Dog Club. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Fritz at home; son, Richard G. Fritz and wife Melissa of Glen Spey, NY; daughter, Karen Coulter and husband Douglas of Middletown; brother, Robert Fritz of City Island, NY; 2 grandchildren, Brent and Derian Fritz and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parent, son, John Fritz, sister, Jeanne Mertz and brother, Richard Fritz. The family would like to thank the Staff at Castle Point H-1 Hospice and Palliative Care Center, and to Dr. Das, Joby David, NP, and Kate McKeown; a special thank you to John Bechelli. We would like to also thank, Dr. Dinsmore. Visitation will be Friday, April 22 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. Burial will be in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen at a later date. in lieu of flowers please make donations in Jerry's name to the Volunteer Service, Castle Point VA, Castle Point, NY 12511, please place GPF 1536 on the memo line, this will ensure that any donations will go to Hospice and Palliative Care Program for patient care.
