GERALDINE (GERI) STEWART
October 8, 1923 - February 9, 2011
Geraldine Stewart, formerly of Goshen, New York, passed away at St. Brigids Nursing Home in Quebec, Canada on Wednesday February 9, 2011. She was 87. The daughter of Gerald and Olive Davis, she was born in Framingham, MA on October 8, 1923.
Geri graduated from Brighton School in Boston, MA in 1941, and from Tufts University in 1945. She married H. Malcolm Stewart II on August 17, 1946. They moved to Goshen in 1949. She was a science teacher at S.S. Seward Institute and Monroe Woodbury High School.
She served for many years as a volunteer with the Orange County Mental Health Association, and she and her husband were co-recipients of the "Silver Bell" award in 2000. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church for over 40 years, serving as a lay reader and a member of the Vestry.
Survivors include her son, H. Malcolm Stewart III and his wife, Susan, and grandchildren, Jason Stewart and Rebecca Stewart; son, Lt. Col. Douglas Stewart (Army Ret.) and his wife, Christine, and grandchildren, Major Matthew Stewart, United States Marine Corps., and Jonathan Stewart; son, Jeffrey Stewart and his wife, Ann, and grandchildren, Amy Pascucci and Sarah Stewart; daughter, Heather Kay and grandchildren, Kisha Brewer and Milan Kay; daughter, Laurie Fortier and her husband, Paul, and grandchildren, Pierre Fortier, Catherine Fortier, Jacqueline Fortier and David Fortier; and sister, Olivia May and her husband Fred; and brother, Herbert Davis. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Malcolm Stewart II.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Stewart's name may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church, St. James Place, Goshen, NY 10924 or to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
