Obituary of Gordon Charles Thew

Gordon Charles Thew, age 80, of Maybrook, NY, previously Campbell Hall, NY, entered into rest Saturday, August 31, 2024. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gordon was born March 27, 1944 in Goshen, NY. He is the son of the late Charles Gregory and the late Pauline (Hoffman) Thew. He graduated from Washingtonville High School class of 1963. Gordon married Mary (Cawein) on September 7th, 1968.
Gordon was a Vietnam veteran and later employed by Orange and Rockland as a Foreman in the gas department, where he retired. He was a very talented woodworker, the man you would call first, and fixer of all things. He loved his family and his friends and always put their needs before his own. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a Worthy Sir Knight 4th degree. For some time he was a volunteer firefighter at Otterkill Fire Dept in Campbell Hall, NY, and an active member of Church of the Assumption in Maybrook, NY.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Thew, his sister Joan (Thew) Howell and brother-in-law, Gary, brother-in-law Ron Schade, and his beloved grandson Riley Michael Winstedt.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Laurie (Dawson) Thew whom he married July 22nd 2012; his loving children Christina (Steven) Myruski, Jacquelyn (Michael) Winstedt, Gregory (Cassandra) Thew and Colleen (Chris) Zubrycki. Gordon was blessed with eight Grandchildren; Sarah, Nicholas, Brayden, Evan, Noah, Ashton and Adelynn. He had a wonderful extended family, whom he loved, John (Doris) Cawein, Jeannette Cawein, Frederica Cawein, and Cathleen Schade, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Visitation will be Monday, September 9 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass to Celebrate his life will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 42 Walnut Street, Walden, NY. Burial will follow in Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Gordon's name to the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc (hydrocephaluskids.org), in honor of his Grandson, Brayden or the Disabled American Veterans (help.Dave.org).
