Obituary of Kathleen A. Stubing
Kathleen (Kathy) Stubing passed away on July 18, 2023.
Kathy was born in Queens on June 9, 1952. She grew up in Freeport alongside her 4 sisters, of whom she was the first born. Kathy graduated from Maria Regina High School, in the school’s first graduating class. Kathy always had so many fun stories to tell about her life. From working on a deli barge, to stories about visiting her uncle in Kentucky with her best friend and having to run from a stampede of cows. Kathy had a sense of humor like no other. If you were hanging out with Kathy, you were going to laugh.
Kathy found her passion in life in nursing. Specifically NICU nursing. She LOVED her babies. Kathy was a highly proficient nurse, passionate about these little lives and passionate about training new nurses to be the best that they could be. Kathy would go to the ends of the earth to help the babies she worked with, as well as their families. So many families stayed in touch with her, and she got to watch “her babies” grow up. Close to her retirement age, she became a school nurse, which she also loved.
Kathy was a mother to two children, Danny and Katie. She was a loving mother who did her best to make childhood fun for her kids, and that she did. Kathy had one granddaughter, Margot, whom she only met once but loved with all of her heart.
Kathy was in touch with nature and spirituality and was very open about her experiences. We hope that she will connect with us in the same ways she connected with those who had passed.
We will miss her stories and laugh and everything about her, for the rest of our lives.
Kathy is predeceased by her mother and father, Ann and Daniel MacDonald. Her legacy lives on in her children, Danny (his wife Lauren) and his daughter Margot, as well as Katie. Her legacy also lives on in her sisters Karen, Jo-Ann (her husband Tom), Jeanne (her wife Diane) and Patti, as well as all of their children, her nieces and nephews.
There will be a private celebration of Kathy’s life, just as she wanted, later this summer, on the beach, Kathy’s favorite place. Please reach out to Katie for more information.
If you feel led to donate, please donate to your local animal shelter or animal rescue in Kathy’s name. Kathy’s pets were her pride and joy. Especially her Shih Tzu, Max.
