Amy Roe Barnes, 82, of Chester entered into rest on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh, NY.
Amy was born February 5, 1939 in Goshen, NY, the daughter of Russell and Florence (Stevens) Roe. She graduated Chester High School in 1956, and attended the University of Wyoming; she was a Teacher in Chester, Goshen and Greenwood Lake and was a cheerleading coach in Chester. She also worked for 30 years at Plaza Optical.
She is survived by her children, Carri Kirkland (Jerry) of Bloominburg, NY, Cathi Henriquez of Worchester, MA, Kim Palkoski (Robert) Scotch Plains, NJ, James Barnes (Monica) of Chester, and Julie Barnes of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter and three nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Russell and Florence Roe and her husband, LeRoy J. Barnes and her brother, Alfred Roe, Jr.
A Memorial Visitation will be on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 3-6 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Graveside Service and Burial will be on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Chester Cemetery, Chester, NY.
The family would like to thank all Hospice care workers who aided in Mom's care and overnight aids, Jackie and Malina.
