Thomas J. Mayr, 76, of Middletown, formerly of Sunnyside, Queens, NY, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at Orange Regional Medical Center-Horton Campus with his family by his side.
The son of the late Henry Mayr and Lucy (Weide) Mayr, he was born March 7, 1933 in New York City, NY. He was the husband of Carmela Pascarelli Mayr.
Thomas was a Veteran of the United States Navy who proudly served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a retired machinist for Crown, Cork & Seal, Wayne, NJ.
A family statement reads: "Our father was a gentle caring and loving person. No one can fill his shoes. He will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses who cared for our father at Horton Hospital."
He leaves behind his beloved, heart broken wife of 47 years, Carmela Pascarelli Mayr at home; his 3 loving, heart broken daughters, Donna Signorella and husband Mario of Montgomery, Julie McNee and husband Donald of Montgomery and Laura Mayr of Middletown; his adoring grandchildren, Michelle, Thomas and Stephanie Signorella and Megan and Lauren McNee, all of Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his brother Henry, his baby grandson Kyle and his son-in-law Keith.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 10 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:00 pm on Friday, December 11 at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 89 Union Street, Montgomery, NY.
Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
