Theodore T. Thornell, 63, originally from Peekskill, NY died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at his home.
The son of the late Thomas and Gertrude Thornell, he was born January 29, 1946
Those who knew Theodore could attest that he was a man of great charisma. He lived life with energy and he was blessed with the Irish gift of story telling. He loved to read, especially anything by Charles Dickens. He possessed an adroit sense of humor and his vocabulary was very good. "Teddy" was extremely generous with those that he cared about.
Theodore has been a member of the Operating Engineers Local 825 for over 40 years. Teddy was always proud of his unparallel work ethic. He was an exemplary employee of County Asphult/Tilcon for over 29 years. Teddy commuted fro Orange County to West Nyack daily and was still often the first to arrive and the last to leave.
The only thing that Teddy valued more than work was his family. He was married to soul mate Denise for forty years through thick and thin. He was survived by his children Theodore Thomas Jr. and his wife Lori, Sean Thornell and his wife Jennifer, and by his son Ian. He was very proud that he was able to have a role in seeing his boys get though college. His two grandchildren, Kylie and Aiden also survived him.
Teddy loved baseball and he especially loved umpiring. He was a volunteer umpire for Otisville Little League for many years (even long after his children were out of the league). It is for this reason that the family request that in lieu of flowers that donations are made to Otisville Little League at Otisville Little league, PO Box 605, Otisville, NY 10963.
