Patrick Glynn Obituary
Patrick Joseph Glynn, resident of Goshen, NY, and a parishioner St. John the Evangelist Church in Goshen, NY, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the age of 96.
Pat was born in Kilkerrin, County Galway, Ireland, to Michael Glynn and Bridget (Grady) Glynn. In the 1950s, he and all of his siblings left Ireland in pursuit of a better life in the United States. A talented and driven craftsman, Pat was soon hired by James E. Mitchell & Sons, Inc. in New York City as a Construction Superintendent. He remained with the firm for 30 years. Upon retirement, Pat forged a second career as a real estate entrepreneur with a variety of notable investment properties in New York and Florida. In 1998, the New York Times published "A Mill That's Grist for His Passion," a half-page feature on Pat and the 150-year-old grist mill estate he was restoring in Washingtonville, NY.
Pat married Evelyn (McGauley) Glynn in 1992 and had 25 years of wonderful marriage, often splitting time between New York and Florida to be closer to family. During this time, Pat continued to enjoy his craftsman projects and expanded his hobbies to include concrete sculpture, music, and collecting antique engines. Throughout his life, Pat quietly provided generous help to many loved ones so that they could achieve their dreams.
Pat is survived by his sons Daniel Glynn, Patrick J Glynn Jr and wife Katie Glynn, grandchildren Patrick J Glynn III and Ava Diane Glynn; brothers Michael Glynn, Thomas Glynn, Lawrence Glynn; sisters Kathleen (Glynn) Koonjy, and Mary (Glynn) Kavanaugh. Patrick was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Glynn, sister Theresa (Glynn) Kipp, first wife Monica (O'Driscoll) Glynn, second wife Diane (Popko) Glynn, and stepson Andre Barral.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Maureen Dyer for her faithful and loving care of Pat and Evelyn over the past 6 years. The family would also like to thank Orange County Hospice for their outstanding assistance.
