Oh, how I enjoyed being Nick's friend. We taught together at SUNY Orange and would always sit together at University Club. I can't imagine a more interesting person to be around and talk to than Nick. He could be enthusiastic about anything...nothing was trivial or unimportant to him. I remember Monday morning breakfasts with NIck and some select friends until I moved to Florida. He enjoyed strawberry sundaes for breakfast. No kidding! My most sincere condolences to Rita, my wife's swimming companion and Daria, who I heard so much about from NIck.
