Obituary of Carol Bach
Carol Lee Bach (Mesnica), age 76, of Goshen NY, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday June 14, 2019 at home surrounded by loved ones, following a short yet courageous battle with cancer. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is at peace and in the arms of angels. She will be deeply missed.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Sokolowski) Mesnica, Carol was born on January 9, 1943 at Goshen Hospital. She was the eldest of five Mesnica children. Carol attended St. Joseph's School in Florida NY and graduated from S.S Seward in 1960. Carol was very prideful of her Polish heritage and enjoyed reminiscing about the good old days growing up in the village of Florida. She called Goshen home for the majority of her adult life, where she was a member of St. John's Church in Goshen.
Carol was known for her sharp witted humor, spunky attitude, and infectious grin. In the spirit of her late mother, she never left home without her hair perfectly coiffed and her jumbo sunglasses in hand, dressed head to toe in the latest trends from QVC. Traveling was one of Carol's greatest fulfillments and she cherished time exploring the world with the people she loved. Her travels took her to Europe, the Grand Canyon, the Midwest, and Mexico, among others. She especially enjoyed playing the slots in Atlantic City with her brother, and walking the shores of Long Beach Island with her sisters and grandchildren. She frequented NYC for Broadway shows with her siblings, and always surrounded herself with music.
Carol's greatest accomplishments in life were the fifty years she spent working as a bookkeeper at Hill N Dale Abstracters, Inc. in Goshen. It was here that she worked beside her late husband, John E. Bach Sr, and would eventually see her sons take ownership of the business. Carol's greatest pride and joy in life was her family. She was so incredibly dedicated to her family and wholeheartedly put their needs above her own. Carol was a beacon of light to her grandchildren with whom she shared a special relationship. Her generosity, devotion, and selflessness will be long remembered by those who loved her most.
Carol is survived by three children, James (Wendy) Wood of Goshen, Cheryl (Gary) Samz of Wisconsin; John (Marlene) Wood of Montgomery; nine beloved grandchildren, Michele Wood, Katie Rose Duff, Sara Wood (Anthony Platé), Brian Duff, Ryan Wood, Jared Wood, Erin Wood, Taylor Raimondo, and Kyle Doce; four siblings, Geraldine Farrell of Middletown, Jo Ellen (Kevin) Smith of New Smyrna Beach FL, Barbara (Paul) Messina of Goshen, and Jay Mesnica of Middletown; several nieces and nephews to whom she was the beloved "Aunt Carol"; Additionally, Carol is survived by her step-children, John E. Bach Jr,(Joanne,) Kevin Bach (Celine), Rosemarie (Stan) Tveit, Bernice (Pete) Holmbraker, Marguerite Bach, Jamie (Joe) Neumann, and Becky Columbus and numerous Step-Grandchildren.
Carol was predeceased by her husband John E. Bach Sr., parents Joseph and Helen (Sokolowski) Mesnica, granddaughter Samantha Rose Duff, great-niece Paige Hazard and great-nephew Isiah Charles. She is truly embraced in the arms of angels as they welcome her home.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19 from 4-7PM at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen. Funeral mass will be on Thursday, June 20 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s R.C Church, 14 Glenmere Ave., Florida NY. Burial will follow at Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery in Goshen. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol’s name to the Isiah Charles Memorial Fund (care of Hill N Dale Abstracters, P.O. Box 547, Goshen).
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the incredible caregivers of the Orange County Hospice East Team for their insurmountable compassion and assistance during this difficult time. Additionally, the family would like to express thanks to Mary Anne and Viola from the infusion center at Goshen Medical. Above all, Carol’s children would like to graciously thank Gerry Farrell, who served as a devoted and steadfast caregiver to her sister throughout the duration of her illness.
