Obituary of Rita M. Ortiz

Rita Mary Ortiz Wallkill, New York Rita Mary Ortiz, 71, of the Town of Wallkill, died Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Rita was born December 6, 1946 in New York, NY, the youngest child and daughter of the late Evaristo and Antoinette (D'Alberri) Antelo. Rita had a career that spanned her time as a devoted homemaker and two decades in business administration and management upon her retirement from Legacy International of Mahwah, NJ as a purchasing manager. She loved spending time in nature, crocheting, knitting, drawing and painting; her gardens were always beautiful. She loved visiting with her extended family, little excursions with her children, games with her grandchildren, and music. She could rarely be seen doing anything without singing or humming a favorite tune. She gave of her time as a volunteer to civic organizations, and as a regular parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish in Goshen, NY. She was a loving and devoted wife, selfless mother, and proud grandmother as well as a daughter, sister, aunt , and friend to so many. She is survived by her children, Andrew Ortiz and wife Heather of Wallkill, Wendy Cassese and husband Edmund of Wallkill, and Jeffrey Ortiz and wife Alison of Hagerstown, MD; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas, Christian and Ryleigh Ortiz, Abigail and Emily Cassese, and Emma, Madelyn, Henry, James, Philomena, Leo, Lillian and Maria Ortiz; brother, Evaristo Antelo of Wilmington, NC and sister, Ida Vanek of Midland Park, NJ; 4 wonderful sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and beautiful friends who were more like family. Rita was predeceased by her parents, her husband Angel Luis Ortiz, and brother Ronald Antelo Sr. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will be alongside her husband in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ on Wednesday, November 21 at 12:30 pm. Arrangements are under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
