Elvira "Vera" Picchione, 89, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, July 20, 2018 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY.
Vera was born January 31, 1929 in Bronx, NY, the daughter of John and Mary (Yank) Picchione. She was the widow of Filpo Picchione and she was predeceased by her two beloved sons, Bernardino and Mario Picchione.
Vera and her husband Filpo owned Phil's Cleaners in Mount Vernon, NY. She was a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren and she adored her two great granddaughters. Vera had a kind heart and was a very loving and giving person.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann Picchione of Goshen; grandchildren, Thomas Picchione (Nita Paradiso) and Lauren Hallenbeck (Matthew Carson); her two great granddaughters, Isla Hallenbeck and Gianna Carson and her niece Marisa Schoenberg and husband Brad and many friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 24 from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY.
Entombment will be private with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or to your local humane society or ASPCA.
