Mrs. Hawes taught me trigonometry when I did not want to study trigonometry. That was no easy task for her. She literally had to shame me into learning the trig functions by rote memory by telling me in front of the entire class, during a marking period, that I was capable of so much more in my effort. She was correct and although I was embarrassed, I earned a high grade on the final exam because of her. From then on, I learned to perform my best no matter what I attempted. I was saddened to hear of her loss and I will remember her determination to get the best out of each student.
Respectfully,
