Jacob "Jake" Tiggelaar passed away at the James J Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, NY on February 21, 2018 at the age of 89. Jake is predeceased by his loving Dutch parents Hendrik and Angel Tiggelaar-Brondsema as well as by his older brother Dirk and his wife Annie and by his younger brother Freerk and his wife Greetje. Jake was born in Uithuizen (a village in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands) on February 4, 1929. In 1947, after World War II, at the age of 22 years, Jake and his parents and his younger brother Freerk, immigrated to the United States. Jake has served as a Marine and was graduated at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island South Carolina, Fourth Battalion, and platoons 255, 276,278. During his life Jake, worked with great dedication and care. His love for nature and animals was always evident at the Gentlemen's Farm in Campbell Hall where he resided. Jake is lovingly remembered by his Dutch nephew Henk and his wife Tjits Tiggelaar , and niece Stiny Tiggelaar and Sameh and son Sharif in Groningen, the Netherlands, as well as by family members and friends in Uithuizen (Groningen, the Netherlands). Jake will always be in our hearts. A graveside service and burial will be held 12:30 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Craigville Rd., Goshen, NY. .
