Obituary of Anna M. Welshoff

Anna M. Welshoff, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2017. Anna was born February 7, 1932 in Lackawanna, NY, the daughter of Pietro and Lucia (Gianelli) Gemmati. She married the love of her life Gerald E. Welshoff on June 18, 1955 and raised her family in Garnerville, NY. She retired from the Rockland County Social Services Dept. in 1989 and moved to Spring Hill, FL. Anna then began a second career working for the Hernando County School District as a secretary until her retirement in 2011. Anna was extremely involved in the communities where she lived. In Garnerville, she was a member of the S.W. Johnson Ladies Auxiliary (President 3X), President of the Rockland County Volunteer Firefighter Association Ladies Auxiliary for two yrs., and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Gregory Barbarigo Church. In Spring Hill, Anna was a charter member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and was active in many ministries. She was the first president of the women's auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 11317, a member of Martha's Helpers, a church greeter and a religious education volunteer. She was a volunteer for many years at the St. Vincent de Paul Society. During her spare time Anna enjoyed visiting her family and traveling. She loved to dance, was a big fan of country music and liked playing cards and board games (especially dominoes) with family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Kathleen) of Goshen, NY, and Jerry (Laura) of Franklin, MA and much adored grandchildren Billy, Brendan, Lexi, Haley, Hannah & Jilian, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Visitation will be Friday, December 15 from 4 to 8 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Goshen, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Anna's name to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 1291 Kass Circle, Spring Hill FL 34606.
